Become a Coalition Member or Volunteer

The Impact Montevallo Coalition meets monthly on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 9:00 am via Zoom.  The zoom link is available by joining our email distribution list on our contact form (choose “join list” option). Pre-Covid the Coalition met at City Hall, located at 541 Main Street, Montevallo.

Coalition Members and Volunteers remain updated on current news and prevention strategies through email, social media and attending community events. 

Take Our Community Survey

Take our Community Survey: your input is vital to identifying the issues facing our youth specifically in Montevallo.  The survey is anonymous. Please be honest in your answers to best help us identify effective prevention strategies.

Make an Impact on Peers

• Join one of our youth coalition groups: Montevallo Junior City Council, MHS Impact Dawgs, or MMS Peer Helpers. 
• Take our youth survey: This short survey is completely anonymous and you are encouraged to be completely honest.  Help us identify the issues and risks that you and your peers face here in Montevallo.

Be an Impactful Parent/Guardian

• Talk to your child about the risks of substance use
• Secure alcohol, tobacco and medications in your home
• Teach your child how to say “no” if offered alcohol, tobacco or other drugs
• Model healthy behaviors and coping skills

Schedule a Tour of our SPOT Trailer

The SPOT, Substance Prevention Observation Training, Trailer is a resource created and utilized by the Impact Montevallo Coalition for educators, parents, prevention organizations and community members.

The SPOT Trailer is built to resemble a teen’s bedroom that includes hidden in plain sight items that may serve as a warning sign of substance use and/or mental health issues.  Items in the trailer were either confiscated in our community or easily purchased online with no restrictions.

It is our goal to educate and encourage conversations with those closely guiding and working with our youth.  The trailer tour is restricted to adults aged 21+. When adults become aware of potential risks they have the power to intervene and make an impact in the lives of youth.

Take a walk through the SPOT Trailer and see how many hidden in plain sight items you can find. You’ll be shocked and amazed at how many places there are to hide things. The more you learn the better prepared you will be!
